Holy Trinity Lutheran Church was one of 12 area churches that made a commitment to the beginnings of the ecumenical Good Shepherd Center, Inc., in 1991. The center began by operating a community food pantry.
Today, it operates a food pantry and hot meal program, as well as a popular thrift store that stocks clothing and household items. All of the proceeds of the store help fund the food programs and other operational expenses.
Along with having Holy Trinity members serve on the Good Shepherd Center board, church members also contribute volunteer hours, gift items to the store and give to the food pantry. Several times during the year, Holy Trinity participates in special events, including gifting new toys and clothing or other items for Christmas gifts for families serviced by the Good Shepherd Center.
The food pantry is at 35 S. Water St., Greenville.
The store and the hot meal program are both housed at 10 N. Water St., Greenville.
